Mommy's b-day is today...but we're celebrating it tomorrow due to really long meetings.

I visited my High School one year after my graduation. There are security cameras now, but I guess that's to be expected after somebody sets a hallway on fire. They're small and obscure, so it's not really much of a change.

My teachers are all just as wonderful as I remember them. It's surprising how good their advice can be even after I've left for college. It makes me wish that I could visit more often, just to see them and put things in perspective. Being absorbed completly into my college work-life isn't always a good thing.

Just bought the Pan's Labyrinth soundtrack on I-Tunes. It's so beautiful! Of course my favorite track is Long, Long Time Ago.

Finals are OVER, summer break is HERE! (For me at least hehe)

It was quite an intense year in every sense of the word, and it didn't stop getting intense, not even towards the end. I spent out 255 big ones on shipping all of my stuff back home. I have no idea when it'll all get here...

I also bought a PS2 and Kingdom Hearts - finally!

Before I left school, I spent the rest of my Dine-Ex on a pizza party.

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, yesterday was Mother's Day. Most of the women of our family (icluding the new baby Bree) came over for a brunch that started at 4:00. It was great seeing everyone after so many months. Bree cut her finger on a milk can. :( She's ok now. :)

Goals for summer break:
Lots of drawing
Lots of gallery visits
At least one comic
At least one animation

I got a B- on a group project that we worked really hard on. It was on R. Crumb's work too. As much as I love reading and drawing comics, I don't think I'll ever try to teach them to anybody ever again. talking to the class was like talking to a load of dead fish. Fish would have been smellier, but more entertaining. We got some good responses out of a few people, but seriously, NEVER AGAIN.

And then of course I read all of Anne Perry's 300+ page novel Seven Dials within two days for the very same class. I read an e-mail from the professor this morning that says that our syllabus is wrong, and we actually have something completely different due today, which I have no time to do because class starts in about a half an hour.

And to think I fought so hard to get in this class...

Damn it's cold.

Bundling up in five layers doesn't help in a huge drafty studio. It's slightly better in this computer cluster, although when I sat down the chair was cold, so my but was cold too. It's warmer now.

Is it but or butt when talking about one's posterior? I can't remember.

I'm now an officially declared double major, but due to class constraints, I won't be able to start working on that second major's requirements until next year. Did I mention that it's creative writing. Anyway, now I'm in this really kickass class called Freshman Seminar - One Story Four Ways. We've started on this kick-ass novel called Slaughter-House Five by Kurt Vonnegut. It might have something to do with why this journal sounds a little different than usual. It probably does. I wonder if the next will sound the same?

Either way this novel is awesome. It's a story within a story, which helps it as an anti-war story. Have I lost you yet? Anyway, this is one of my favorite passages so far:

"I looked through the Gideon Bible in my motel room for tales of great destruction. The sun was risen upon the Earth when Lot entered into Zo-ar, I read. Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of Heaven; and He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
So it goes.
Those were vile people in both those cities, as is well known. The world was better off without them.
And Lot's wife of course, was told not to look back where all those people and there homes had been. But she did look back, and I love her for that, because it was so human.
So she was turned into a pillar of salt. So it goes." p. 22

I remember pitying Lot's wife after I first read that in Children's Bible in High School. But I couldn't "like" her because afterall, you're not supposed to like the people who sin in the Bible. They're punished by God because they're bad. Or at least that's what I thought when I was an eight-year-old flipping through a picture-book Bible in Sunday School. Thank you Kurt Vonnegut for letting me love Lot's wife.

That's two sinners I love, Lot's wife and Eve.

I'm only halfway through the book, so if anyone leaves a comment that would spoil the end for me in some way (if that's at all possible) I'll be upset.

I don't think I have to sorry about that. This journal doesn't reach hordes of people because I don't post enough art here. I've made and formatted tons of art of course, I'm at an art school aren't I? I just haven't posted much because I'm busy. Or lazy. Most likely both.

Of course I'm grateful for the readers that I do have.

You in particular Rappy.

Now here's some good news that I'm hoping will pull me out of this wierd mood I'm in. I thought my wallet was stolen a few days ago during a school gala. It had over 200 dollars in it and my social security card. I filed a police report and called home. The first call involved my mother yelling at me. After I hung up I played Pac-Man on my cell phone, angrily, so it sucked when Winky or Blinky ate me. A few minutes later she called again with "Don't worry, I've calmed down". She was nice to me after that. Halfway through our conversation I started crying. Sometimes it's harder on me when she's nice.

On to the good news I mentioned - it turns out that I left the wallet in the room that I take West African Dance lessons in. My instructor held it for me so I'll get it back on Friday. She got a hug from me after class. We were all sweaty but it didn't matter. Maybe I'll buy a tablet or PS2.

It's 11:45. In about 15 minutes it'll be January 31st. That's a full month since my last post. I'll try harder.

Thanks for reading.

HAPPY NEW YEAR~!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONCE AGAIN! It's been another amazing year. I think I managed to fulfill at least part of last year's resolution, so I guess there's no harm in making another. Last year I resolved to:
- Become a more dependable person.
- Improve my drawing skills

I think i did much better than last year, but I could work on the dependability. I made it into the art school of my choice, my drawing skills are actually improving! (Not that you see much of them here.)

This year I resolve to:
- Get better at planning
- Update this site more
- Start selling my beads
- Start a comic diary
- Stand up for what I believe in for a change

Once again, a lot of things changed for me this year I:
- Was accepted into my first choice school
- Learned how to pull two or three all-nighters in a row
- Started drinking cappucino
- Came out as bi
- Voted for the first time in the mid-terms. YEAH DEMOCRATS! :w00t:
- Drew an original comic (which will be posted as soon as I find a scanner big enough for B5 paper.
- Finished an entire semester of college. XD
- Started living away from home. Dorm life is fun!

I'm looking forward to another great year. Hopefully you'll hear more from me this time. Hope you had a great holiday and a happy new year!
